He gave her a small smile and waved at the back end of the van. Luckily his work with the case was brief and done; the roll of cash in his pocket would go a long way toward covering his house payment. Once Melody was safely out of the van and had fueled up her vehicle, Brian pulled away from the curb. If he hit the hay as soon as he got home, he could salvage another three or four hours of sleep. Based on how he felt right now, that would be tough.
